Rich and Romantic Spring Florals- Ranunculas, Fritillaries, Hellebores and Hyacinth

Just over a year ago we collaborated with Natalie from Mist of Morning Photography on this beautiful, spring editorial. The flowers we worked with were a combination of those from the garden (fritillaries, clematis, pieris, hellebores) and some from our local market, the Seattle Wholesale Growers Market (hyacinth and ranunculas). It it truly impossible to choose a favorite flower, but in early spring fritillaries are definitely in my top three. They are incredibly unique- plum and white checkers on their petals, what?!?! How is it even possible??? They are small flowers, but wow do they make a statement. We have many, many, many of these spring bulbs in the Cutting Garden, and when they come up it always feels like spring is really underway. They bloom around the same time the cherry blossoms bloom, and spring feels like it has arrived. For this project, we combined plum toned flowers (including the fritillaries!) with soft peach tones to create a rich and romantic palette, that was both dramatic and soft. Pairing soft tones with darker tones is one of my favorite ways to work with color- combining tones like this always seems to yield something beautiful, unexpected and unique. This project was featured twice- on Anti-Bride as well as Over the Moon. It was a pleasure to be part of this beautiful editorial, and I hope it inspires you! And if you have a garden space or even a pot you can plant some flowers in, I highly recommend planting some fritillaries! They are quite easy to grow, and will truly knock your socks off with their beauty!

Thank you to the wonderful vendor team that came together to create such a beautiful editorial:
