An Elegant Seattle Wedding on the Water with Colorful, Lush and Organic Floral Design
D + A had a beautiful and elegant wedding on the MV Skansonia, filled with the best of July's flowers: dahlias, roses, honeysuckle, phlox, and many, many beautiful little apricots and crabapples that we set between centerpieces on their long dining tables to create a tablescape rich in the abundance of summer in the Pacific Northwest. They wanted a clean, crisp palette integrating white, peach, a pop of bright orange, and teal, and wanted to highlight the beauty of summer in the PNW. Florals included all of these tones other than teal, which was represented in the bridesmaid dresses as well as the lush, velvet linens. Their original date was set for July 2020, but due to Covid they bumped the date by about a year, and got married in late July 2021. It was the height of summer in Seattle, and the summer season really shone through through the colors and abundant summer flowers!
Some favorite aspects of this wedding were the gorgeous chuppah, which was a project on which we collaborated with the wind that was blowing on the ship that day to decide what looked best for the overall shape of the design; the gorgeous sweetheart table design featuring flowers and vines swirling both in front and on top of the table; the lush bridal and bridesmaid bouquets featuring gorgeous garden roses, dahlias and maidenhair fern to add a delicate, PNW touch.
