Washington State Desert Elopement with a Wild and Vibrant Bouquet
Last summer, with Covid impacting so many people's wedding plans, many couples opted to elope or have very small gatherings. As I have written about in the last few posts, we have been offering flowers for these smaller weddings that are 100% from our Seattle Cutting Garden- and it has been so special to have truly had a relationship with every single flower in a person's bouquet from planting the seeds, to nurturing the plants as they grow, to eventually working with the blooms in a gorgeous design for a really meaningful moment in someone's life. We are always working with flowers from the Cutting Garden, even for larger events, but we do not always get to work 100% from the Cutting Garden. It is really a different process to be working entirely out of the garden, and it's quite a special one. This process requires a lot of trust on the part of the couple, and a lot of creativity and tuning in (both to the flowers in the garden and to the energy of the couple) on our part. We don't ever know exactly what will be going into the pieces we design this way until the day they are designed- and therein lies the magic.
This couple had one specific request- an extra large, oversized, wild bouquet, with very long trailing ribbons. They were completely open in terms of color palette, and just wanted their flowers to be inspired, local and dramatic! It was truly a treat to be able to harvest huge stems of 'Hot Cocoa' roses, hydrangea, dahlias, evergreen clematis vines, 'Apricot Lemonade' Cosmos and more, and weave them together to create this vibrant bouquet, with a sweet little boutonniere to match. Enjoy these photos from this Washington state desert elopement!
